Winter is here, and we couldn’t be happier. As the weather starts to cool down, you may wonder whether Curd is still a good choice for your daily diet. After all, the Curd is a dairy product and is typically associated with warm summer days. It’s critical to incorporate seasonal ingredients into your regular meal planning. Curd is frequently included on the list of foods to avoid during the winter season.

As we leave behind oppressive heat, it’s essential to prepare for the drop in temperature and protect yourself with the proper meals. You can do this by changing your eating habits and including seasonal fruits and vegetables in your regular meal planning. Curd is a summer delicacy we find very difficult to let go of in the winter. We all enjoy eating curd, which we do by adding it to raita, curd rice, kadhi, and other dishes. Probiotic-rich foods, such as curd, have been shown to benefit gut health. The human body includes both beneficial and harmful germs. Probiotics are advantageous because they help to maintain healthy gut flora. Curd is a summer delicacy and is widely thought to be best avoided since it might cause a sore throat. Is that correct?

    Eating Curd during winter

We all enjoy eating Curd, which we do by adding it to raita, curd rice, kadhi, and other dishes. Curd is a probiotic-rich meal that helps to boost intestinal health. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeast—these aid in maintaining a healthy, disease-free digestive tract. A human being’s body consists of both healthy and dangerous microorganisms. The existence of probiotics is beneficial since it aids in the maintenance of gut flora.

There are several misconceptions surrounding yoghurt, often known as ‘curd.’ One of them is to avoid eating while it is chilly. If you still believe this, you should refute it and start eating a little bowl of Curd every day. Curd can help persons with stomach issues. They can eat probiotic-rich foods since they are gentle on their stomachs. Curd, which contains probiotics, is especially beneficial during the heat. Is it safe to ingest throughout the cold season?

Is it Good to Consume Curd During the Winter?

Immunity needs to be protected specifically during the winter. People should consume foods that improve their immunity and keep them from getting sick. Eating seasonal foods aids with health maintenance. However, in the cold, individuals should be cautious when eating. Curd is high in nutrients and contains a variety of other necessary components. It is high in calcium and helps to keep the body and bones robust and healthy. Curd also helps to reduce acidity, bloating, and gas.

Curd is a dairy product made by curdling milk with an acidic substance. It is safe to eat Curd during winter as long as it is pasteurized. Pasteurized Curd is free of harmful bacteria that can cause illness.

Ayurveda Suggests You Should Avoid Curd

According to Ayurvedic expert Ashutosh Gautam, “Curd should be avoided throughout the winter since it stimulates gland secretions, which increases mucus production, affecting the general health of the body. Since Curd has a Kapha-Kar character, the extra mucus that builds up might make it tough for persons who are already dealing with respiratory infections, asthma, a cold, and cough (throughout winter). Therefore, it is advisable to stay away from curds throughout winter, especially at night.“

    Science has a different approach

According to Shilpa Arora, a nutritionist who practises macrobiotic medicine, Curd is a great immune system booster since it is fermented. It’s also high in B12, calcium, and phosphorus. It is excellent for promoting gut flora, which has been related to root-cause healing of the body. Having Curd during the day is good for improving health during the winter. The Curd must be avoided beyond 5:00 p.m. because it produces mucus or ama, which is especially problematic in persons suffering from asthma and allergies. Dr Anju Sood, a Bangalore-based nutritionist, had quite a different perspective and claimed the only factor influencing food temperature is its ambient temperature. According to her, eating yoghurt in the cold is perfectly OK.

The Health Advantages of Eating Curd During the Winter Season

    Vitamins and Protein

Curd has a lot of vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and protein. Lactobacillus prevents hazardous microorganisms and diseases from entering the body. Curd is a fermented food that’s high in vitamin C. Vitamin C is an effective source for cold and cough treatment. It is usually preferable to consume it immediately after purchasing rather than refrigerate it. However, Curd should be finished as soon as it hardens rather than refrigerated.

    Aids in Digestion

Curd is well-known for its digestive benefits. Curd is an excellent probiotic. Curd contains beneficial microorganisms that aid with digestion. It enhances our digestive activity and is excellent for alleviating stomach distress. It regulates the pH equilibrium in the body, preventing acidity. Curd aids the digestion process by preventing acidity. Curd helps to build bone in the body. Some people may get weakened by the cold weather.

    Good For Skin

Curd is well-known for its ability to promote healthy, beautiful skin. Curd has natural moisturizing elements that keep the skin from becoming dry out. Curd can benefit persons with acne who have gastrointestinal issues. Since Curd contains nutrients that keep the gut happy and healthy, all stomach-related ailments are put to the side. Curd may also be used as a cosmetic face pack just because it contains lactic acid, which acts as an exfoliant and removes dead cells and blemishes.

    Bone Health and wellbeing

The Curd makes the body’s bones stronger. Some people may get weakened by the cold weather. The concentration of calcium in Curd not only helps balance bone density but also strengthens it. Curd has fewer fat and calories, which helps with weight management.

    Conclusion

So, should you give up your favourite bowl of Curd entirely? Maybe not all together. You should reduce your curd consumption if you have respiratory problems such as a cough or a cold. Curd ingested around midday is a safer bet than Curd taken later in the day.

Curd is high in probiotics, which are highly beneficial to our digestive system. Probiotics are beneficial because they support the maintenance of healthy gut flora. The Curd makes the body’s bones stronger. Some people may get weakened by the cold weather. The concentration of calcium in Curd not only helps balance bone density but also strengthens it. Curd has fewer fat and calories, which helps with weight management.  As a result, eating Curd throughout the winter months helps to maintain our stomach healthy and aids with digestion. Curd, on the other hand, should be consumed in moderation due to its high-fat content.

Curd is also a great source of calcium and vitamin D, both of which are essential for strong bones and teeth. And since we tend to spend more time indoors during the winter, getting enough vitamin D from our diet is important to prevent deficiency.

So if you’re looking for healthy, nutritious food to help get you through the winter months, consider adding Curd to your diet!
